MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - West Virginia University volleyball's Adrian Ell garnered her first league honors as she was announced the Big 12 Defensive Player of the week on Tuesday for matches played Sept. 24-25.
The fifth-year senior recorded a pair of double-doubles in the Mountaineer's first-ever season sweep over Oklahoma.
"I thought Adrian had a great weekend against Oklahoma," said coach Reed Sunahara. "She was good offensively, but even more impressive on the defensive end. She had some timely blocks and dug a lot of balls to help us win two games this past weekend."
The Cincinnati, Ohio native, recorded a team season-high 21 kills and 11 digs on Friday to record her first Mountaineer double-double. Following the first win, Ell recorded 15 kills and a Mountaineer season-best 19 digs to record her second double-double of the weekend on Saturday.
