MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University volleyball coach Jen Greeny has announced the addition of Sophia Fallah, a 6-foot-3 middle blocker from Aachen, Germany, who will join the Mountaineers in the fall of 2026.
"We are very excited to welcome Sophia to West Virginia Volleyball," said Greeny. "Sophia brings a great deal of experience and competitiveness and we can't wait for her to be a part of this team!"
Fallah arrives in Morgantown with extensive experience in Germany's top leagues and national team system. She most recently competed in the German 1st Bundesliga with Ladies in Black Aachen from 2023-26, one of the premier professional environments in the country. During her tenure, she helped the club reach the 2025 German Cup semifinals.
"I chose WVU because of its strong coaching staff and positive team culture, and I'm excited to be part of a program that combines high-level volleyball with academics," Fallah said. "College volleyball is very different from the European game, and I'm ready to embrace the challenge and give everything I have every day. I can't wait to compete in Hope Coliseum."
Before joining the Bundesliga, Fallah played in both the German 2nd Bundesliga (2021–23) and 3rd Bundesliga (2020–21). She also spent four years with VCO Münster under coach Marc d'Andrea.
A longtime member of the German Youth and Junior National Team, Fallah earned her first nomination in 2018 and competed in major international events, including the 2019 European Championships and the 2021 WEVZA Tournament.
