"We had a good week on the road last week, and hopefully, we can take advantage of what we did well on in tomorrow night's match," fifth-year coach Reed Sunahara said. "There are still some things that we need to work on, and we talked about that as a group. We just have to make sure we take care of business and close out this road swing with a win."

West Virginia (9-8, 1-4 Big 12) and Morehead State (14-4, 5-1 OVC) have met 12 times in program history, with the Mountaineers holding an 8-4 advantage in the all-time series. WVU has won five of the last six matches with MSU, picking up a 3-2 victory in its most recent meeting at the WVU Coliseum last season. Down 2-0 in the match, the Mountaineers came back and captured a five-set thriller over the Eagles in set scores of 24-26, 15-25, 25-21, 25-16 and 15-4 on Sept. 14, 2018.

Of note, West Virginia enters the match with an 8-4 mark in nonconference play and is 46-24 all-time in non-league matches under Sunahara.

The Mountaineers claimed their first Big 12 Conference win of the season, going 1-1 in Big 12 action last week. West Virginia suffered a five-set loss at Kansas on Oct. 10 before picking up a 3-1 victory at Kansas State on Oct. 12.

Senior Katelyn Evans was named the WVU co-Student-Athlete of the Week earlier today. Evans, an outside hitter, finished the week averaging 3.89 kills per set, ranking fourth in the Big 12. The Palmdale, California, native led West Virginia to a 3-1 victory over K-State, posting a season-high 22 kills for a .375 hitting efficiency. Evans notched her fifth double-digit match of the season and fourth 20-kill performance of her career in the win. She also recorded 13 kills at Kansas. Evans finished the week hitting .371 on 82 attempts with 35 kills.

As a team, WVU is hitting .207 and averaging 12.7 kills per set. Sophomore middle blocker/outside hitter Kristina Jordan paces WVU's offense, averaging 3.91 points per set, 3.24 kills per set and 0.38 service aces per set. Sophomore setter Lacey Zerwas quarterbacks the Mountaineer offense, ranking fourth in the Big 12 with 10.08 assists per set.

Junior defensive specialist Alexa Hasting anchors WVU's floor defense, averaging 4.25 digs per to rank second in the league. Hasting is on pace to etch her name in the WVU single-season record book. Her average of 4.25 digs per set would rank No. 3 all-time by a Mountaineer junior and ninth overall in a single season in program history. Additionally, she boasts 952 digs in her career, 48 shy of 1,000.

Morehead State sits at 14-4 on the season, with its only losses coming against Winthrop, Kansas, Arizona and Jacksonville State.
