After playing to 20 ties and 12 lead changes throughout the course of the set, West Virginia used three consecutive points to close out the second stanza with a 27-25 win. With Eastern Kentucky holding a slim, 22-21 advantage, DeMeo was able to find the floor twice, as the Mountaineers regained the lead at 23-22. However, back-to-back Colonel kills put EKU at set point at 24-23. West Virginia called a timeout to reset, as Eastern Kentucky served into the net out of the stoppage to extend the set. EKU put down a kill, but Lux came up with a huge swing of her own to bring WVU to set point at 26-25. Broughton then served up her second ace of the day, as the Mountaineers claimed the 27-25 second-set win for the 2-0 match lead.
The Mountaineers got into a rhythm early in the third set, using a trio of scoring runs for the 13-5 lead midway through the frame. The two squads exchanged points down the stretch, but a 5-0 scoring run from WVU put the Mountaineers on top for good at 21-12.
