Box Score MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University baseball team scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning and added an eight-run eighth to beat No. 19 Oklahoma, 12-4, on Saturday afternoon in Morgantown.
In front of a season-high 2,073 fans at Monongalia County Ballpark, the Mountaineers (15-11, 1-4 Big 12) never trailed and evened the three-game series against the Sooners (22-6, 4-1 Big 12).
WVU took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, and led 3-0 after four, but OU rallied to tie the game in the sixth inning. West Virginia responded to regain the lead with a run in the seventh and blew it open with eight runs in the eighth.
"That makes you feel good as a coach, that you have a team that doesn't feel sorry for themselves, doesn't get down on themselves, and we needed a win," WVU coach
Randy Mazey said about WVU's response following Friday night's 2-1 loss. "We can feel good about this game for the next five minutes, but they have their best guy on the mound tomorrow, we have a good guy on the mound tomorrow, and conditions aren't going to be as good and the weather is going to be colder, so who knows what is going to happen, but we just have to fight like heck to get a series win here (tomorrow)."
West Virginia's 12 runs came on 12 hits, while five Mountaineer pitchers held Oklahoma to four runs on nine hits. WVU left seven runners on base and OU stranded 12.
Offensively for West Virginia, seven starters had a hit, seven scored at least one run and eight Mountaineers drove in a run in the victory.

Wolf escaped a bases-loaded jam in the top of the fourth, and WVU answered with another run in the bottom of the inning, thanks to McIntosh's leadoff home run, to extend the lead to 3-0.

With runners on second and third and two outs, a wild pitch scored another to make it 8-3, and a bases-loaded walk extended the lead to 9-3. McIntosh followed with a two-RBI single up the middle, and senior catcher
