
Mountaineers Welcome Marshall for Game Two of Season Series

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 17 West Virginia University baseball team is set to host Marshall, Wednesday evening at Kendrick Family Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

West Virginia is 21-7 this season after taking one of three games against No. 23 UCF over the weekend. The Mountaineers dropped the series opener before winning 11-10 on Saturday. In the rubber match, the Knights came out on top with a 5-1 victory.
Earlier this season, WVU defeated Marshall, 3-0, at Jack Cook Field in Huntington. Wednesday will be the second of three meetings between the in-state rivals with the finale coming on May 5 in Charleston.
Sophomore Gavin Kelly leads the Mountaineers with a .405 batting average and 29 RBI while graduate student Sean Smith has a team-high five home runs. Junior Armani Guzman paces the team and leads the Big 12 with 19 stolen bases.

RHP David Hagen (2-0, 1.46 ERA, 12 K, 6 BB, 12.1 IP) vs. RHP Kenyon Collins (2-2, 5.70 ERA, 43 K, 20 BB, 36.1 IP)
Marshall is led by fourth-year head coach Greg Beals, who is 81-116 during his time in Huntington. The Thundering Herd are 14-16 this season and are coming off a 1-2 weekend at App State.
Evan Bottone leads the team with a .388 batting average and six home runs. Kenyon Collins will get the start and has 43 strikeouts in 36.1 innings
