MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University baseball team has added a home game against Canisius on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m. ET, at Monongalia County Ballpark.
Admission will be free for all fans for the contest.
Due to the game's late addition to the schedule and prior to the originally-scheduled home opener on March 8, concession stands will not be open for Tuesday's game. Fans will be permitted to bring their own food and beverage into Monongalia County Ballpark on Tuesday.

The Mountaineers (1-2) and Golden Griffins (1-2) meet for the second consecutive season, after CC came to Morgantown twice last year, for a three-game series and a midweek contest. West Virginia won three of four.
Tuesday's matchup is WVU's earliest home game in program history.

The season began with a 5-3 loss at Kennesaw State on Feb. 15 and followed with an 8-2 win at Georgia State and a 5-4 loss in 11 innings at Georgia Tech on Saturday. Due to inclement weather expected in Atlanta on Sunday, West Virginia played three games in two days to open the season at three different opponents.

SCOUTING CANISIUS
An NCAA Tournament team a year ago, Canisius is 1-2 on the season after a series loss at North Carolina Central to open the 2019 campaign. The Golden Griffins lost the opener, 5-2, before they evened the series with an 8-3 win on Saturday. NC Central won the series with a 9-0 victory on Sunday. Conner Morro led the team with five hits in 10 at-bats, while Andy Leader has a team-leading three RBIs. On the mound, Nolan Hunt picked up the win in relief on Saturday, with seven strikeouts in 5.0 shutout innings.
Matt Mazurek is in his second season as head coach and 14th overall at CC. In his first season, he led the Golden Griffins to a MAAC Championship and an NCAA Regional appearance. Mazurek spent 10 seasons as an assistant coach and graduated from Canisius in 2006.
SERIES HISTORY VS. CANISIUS
West Virginia is 8-5 all-time against Canisius, with all 13 meetings coming in Morgantown. Last season, the Mountaineers won three of four games against the Golden Griffins. From March 16-18, WVU won the first two, 10-9 and 2-0, before a 4-3 loss in the finale. West Virginia then earned a 9-2 victory on April 18.
Brandon White and
Marques Inman each had a team-high-tying four hits in the series and Inman led the squad with six RBIs.
Tristen Hudson and
Alek Manoah each appeared in two games and did not allow a run on the mound, with Manoah's appearances totaling 9.0 innings and Hudson 4.1.
LAST TIME OUT: ATLANTA CHALLENGE
West Virginia opened the 2019 season at the Atlanta Challenge and went 1-2 in Atlanta. The season began with a 5-3 loss at Kennesaw State on Feb. 15 and followed with an 8-2 victory at Georgia State and a 5-4 loss in 11 innings at Georgia Tech on Saturday. Due to inclement weather expected in Atlanta on Sunday, WVU's contest at Georgia Tech was moved up to Saturday night, and the Mountaineers' opening weekend featured three games, totaling 29 innings, in a 31-hour span against three different teams in three ballparks.
- In WVU's 5-3 loss at Kennesaw State on Opening Day, WVU right-hander Alek Manoah struck out a career-best 13 batters and allowed one unearned run on five hits with no walks in 6.0 innings. West Virginia led 3-1 in the middle of the sixth, but KSU rallied with a three-run seventh inning. Catcher Ivan Gonzalez had two RBIs and first baseman Marques Inman and second baseman Tyler Doanes each had two hits.
- The next day, WVU won at Georgia State, 8-2. West Virginia scored two runs in the first inning but were held hitless until a four-run sixth inning, and the pitching staff held GSU to two runs on six hits. The Mountaineer offense benefited from seven walks, while catcher Paul McIntosh and shortstop Tevin Tucker each had their first hits as Mountaineers and drove in a team-high-tying two runs. Lefty Jackson Wolf picked up the win and allowed one run on four hits in 5.0 innings.
- WVU closed the Atlanta Challenge with a 5-4 loss in 11 innings at Georgia Tech later on Saturday. West Virginia trailed 3-0 after two innings and 4-0 after six, but rallied with three runs in the seventh and another in the eighth to tie the game and send it to extra innings, however, Georgia Tech won it in the 11th on a bases-loaded single. The Mountaineers scored three two-out runs in the seventh with the help of a throwing error before first baseman Marques Inman homered to lead off the eighth, tying the game at 4-4.
UP NEXT: AT GEORGIA SOUTHERN
The Mountaineers return to the Peach State next weekend for a three-game set at Georgia Southern, from Feb. 22-24. The series in Statesboro, Georgia, begins on Friday, Feb. 22, at 6 p.m. ET. First pitch at J.I. Clements Stadium on Saturday is set for 3 p.m., while the series concludes at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.
