MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team (13–4, 1–4 Big 12) was swept by the University of Central Florida (11–6, 2–4 Big 12) in straight sets on Sunday afternoon at The Venue at UCF. The match concluded with set scores of 19–25, 19–25, and 20–25.

The Mountaineers struggled to establish offensive consistency throughout the contest. In the opening frame, WVU recorded nine kills on 26 attempts, hitting .077. The second set showed slight improvement with seven kills and a .238 hitting percentage. The third set marked the team's most efficient performance, posting 11 kills on 21 swings and a .286 clip, but the late surge was not enough to extend the match.

West Virginia finished the match with 27 kills on 68 total attempts, hitting .191 overall. The team registered 27 assists and three service aces. Defensively, the Mountaineers compiled 38 digs and eight total blocks, including two solo blocks and 12 block assists.

Redshirt junior opposite hitter Trinity Sheridan led the offense with 11 kills on 18 attempts, hitting .444 and contributing three block assists for a team-high 12.5 points. Senior middle blocker Laila Ibrahim was efficient at the net, recording five kills on seven swings (.714) and adding five total blocks.

Freshman right-side hitter Anna Barr added five kills on 10 attempts (.400) and a block assist. Sophomore outside hitter Maggie Elliott contributed two kills in limited action, while redshirt senior Cassidy Tanton posted a kill and five digs. Junior middle blocker Maddy McGath added a kill and three total blocks.

Redshirt junior setter Alexis Finnvold paced the offense with 12 assists and two digs. Freshman setter Sarah Pfiffner contributed 10 assists and three digs. Senior libero LonDynn Betts anchored the backcourt with six digs, and sophomore defensive specialist Eily Painter added two digs.

West Virginia continues its three-match road swing with a visit to Ames, Iowa, to face Iowa State on Thursday, October 16, at 7:30 p.m. ET in Hilton Coliseum.
