MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team (8-17, 2-12 Big 12) lost in three sets, 3-0 to Arizona on Sunday afternoon inside of the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown.
The Wildcats claimed the victory with scores of 18-25, 21-25 and 17-25.
West Virginia was led by junior middle blocker
Laila Ibrahim who tallied 11 kills, while hitting .536 percent and dropping down pair of total blocks. Additionally, senior outside hitter
Hailey Green finished with double digits kills, notching ten.

Chalina Lederer led the defense with five total blocks, of which three were solo stops. Graduate student setter
Lauren DeLo controlled the offense with her team leading 32 assists.
Arizona wasted no time getting ahead in the first set, as they led 8-1. A pair of kills from Green along with a Wildcat error made the score, 8-4. West Virginia continued to chip away at Arizona's lead, as a 5-1 scoring run would let the Mountaineers trail, 13-12. The Wildcats responded with four straight points, 17-12. Arizona continued to dominate the set, taking the first, 25-18.
The score was tied early in the second set, after a kill from Ibrahim made the tally, two all. The Wildcats proceeded with another four-point scoring run, leading 7-3. Arizona went on to lead by as many as eight points, before a pair of WVU kills would make the score, 14-8. A trio of Mountaineers points looked to turn the tide, as West Virginia trailed, 16-12. WVU provided no break for the Wildcats, as a 5-1 run slowed Arizona to a 21-18 lead. A late string of points from West Virginia got the team within two 23-21, before the Wildcats would go on to take the second set, 25-22.
Ibrahim looked for vengeance in the third set, kicking it off with two kills to let West Virginia lead, 2-1. The score went on to be tied at two, three and four points before a 6-0 Arizona run would make the score, 10-4. The Wildcats provided no leeway for WVU, as another run of six straights points would give them a 19-9 advantage. Junior outside hitter
Quincey Coyle chipped in a kill to start a 3-0 West Virginia run, as the Mountaineers trailed, 21-13. Arizona continued to dominate, capturing the third and final set of the match, 25-17.
Next, West Virginia will travel to the state of Utah for a pair of matches against No. 20 Utah and No. 24 BYU. The Mountaineers will first face off against the Utes on Nov. 21 at 9 p.m. ET, inside of the Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. WVU will then take on BYU on Nov. 23 at the George Albert Smith Fieldhouse in Provo, Utah at 3 p.m.
