
No. 17 West Virginia Faces No. 22 North Carolina in Chapel Hill

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 17 West Virginia University wrestling team faces No. 22 North Carolina on Friday at 7 p.m. at Carmichael Arena in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
The match will be streamed on ACCNX.
West Virginia (5-0) is off to its best start since 1992, and with a win against the Tar Heels, WVU would improve to 6-0 for the first time since 1990. This marks the first meeting with North Carolina since 2009, as the Mountaineers are 12-2 all-time against the Tar Heels.
Most recently, West Virginia placed fourth at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, marking the program's best finish at the invite since 2002. Graduate student Jett Strickenberger (125) and redshirt sophomore Ty Watters (157) each won individual titles, becoming the first Mountaineer duo to win individual titles at the same Las Vegas Invitational in program history.
Freshman Gunner Andrick is off to a 13-4 start this season, tying for the team lead in individual wins. Andrick also made his FloWrestling rankings debut this week at No. 25 at 133 pounds.
Andrick is one of seven Mountaineers with 10 or more wins this season, with redshirt junior Brody Conley (174) also sitting at 13 wins overall.
