MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The all-time winningest wrestler in the history of the West Virginia University wrestling program, Peyton Hall, has joined the staff as an assistant coach.
"I am excited to give back to a program that has given so much to me," Hall said. "I am blessed to have the opportunity to be back with the Mountaineers."
During his time as a Mountaineer, Hall became the first wrestler to qualify for five NCAA Wrestling Championships and was the third Mountaineer to be a three-time All-American. His highest finish at the NCAA Championships came in 2025 when he placed third.
Hall ended his historic career with 17 NCAA Tournament victories to tie for the most in program history. "We are thrilled to have Peyton Hall join our staff," head coach Tim Flynn said. "Adding a three-time All-American and five-time Academic All-American is great for the program, and he is someone our young kids can look up to. Peyton is a homegrown talent and WVU graduate, making it the icing on the cake. He is going to be an excellent coach."
En route to his 135 career wins, Hall won the Big 12 Championship at 165 pounds in 2025, becoming just the fifth Mountaineer to win an individual Big 12 title. He also competed twice at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Star Classic during his career, winning his bout in 2024.
Hall was a four-time NWCA Scholar All-American and earned a B.S. and M.S. in sport management from West Virginia University.
