Big 12 Adds Regular Season Wrestling Championship

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Big 12 Conference has added a regular season championship for wrestling ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The team with the highest winning percentage in conference dual meets will be awarded the regular season title. There are no tiebreakers in place to allow co-champions. This move does not replace the Big 12 Wrestling Championship, annually held in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in March.
This is the first time the conference will name a regular season champion since the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.
After some departures from the conference, nine schools make up the Big 12. West Virginia, Arizona State, Iowa State and Oklahoma State are the only full-time members. Missouri, Northern Iowa, Oklahoma, Utah Valley and Wyoming make up the rest of the conference as affiliate members.
During the conference schedule, teams will face the other eight teams with four at home and four on the road. Conference meets will begin on Nov. 7, and end on Feb. 17.
Last season, West Virginia won five Big 12 dual meets during an 11-win season. The Mountaineers finished fifth at the Big 12 Wrestling Championship.
