Box Score MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University baseball team dropped the series finale to Ohio State, 26-11, Sunday afternoon at Kendrick Family Ballpark. The Mountaineers fall to 11-9 while the Buckeyes improve to 10-8.
Ohio State jumped on WVU pitching with two runs in the first and five in the third before exploding for eight, four and seven runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth inning, respectively.
The highlight of the day for the Mountaineers came in the ninth when Morgantown native freshman
Aaron Jamison hit a grand slam, the first home run of his career. Junior
Grant Hussey and senior
Reed Chumley each had two hits while freshmen
Michael Perazza and
Spencer Barnett had three RBI.
In an otherwise forgetful day for the WVU pitching staff, redshirt sophomore
Tommy Beam and sophomore
Carson Estridge each threw a scoreless inning.
The Mountaineers will be back at Kendrick Family Ballpark on Wednesday, March 20, to take on Marshall. First pitch against the Thundering Herd is set for 6:30 p.m.
