MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – In its final nonconference road dual of the season, the No. 20 West Virginia University wrestling team travels to Baltimore, Maryland, to take on Morgan State on Sunday, Jan. 28, at 3 p.m. ET.
Fans not in attendance can catch all the action on MSU's All-Access streaming channel at morganstatebears.com as well as follow along with live stats on Trackwrestling.
"It's a neat opportunity as Morgan State is just getting its program back going again," sixth-year head coach Tim Flynn said. "I actually competed against some guys from MSU, so I'm glad that program is back up and running with coach (Kenny) Monday, and we're expecting a good battle against them."
WVU (8-3) faces MSU (1-14) for the fourth time in history and third in Baltimore. The Mountaineers outscored the Bears by a 94-34 margin during a three-year stretch from 1974-76. This includes a 42-2 road victory in the last meeting prior to Morgan State discontinuing the program at the conclusion of the 1996-97 season.
The Bears' resume competition under first-year coach Kenny Monday, who was the 1984 NCAA champion and three-time All-American during his time at Oklahoma State. Four years later, Monday claimed the gold medal at the 1988 Olympic games in Seoul, before taking silver four years later in Barcelona.
Five Mountaineers head into the dual listed in the FloWrestling's individual rankings – No. 13 Jordan Titus (141), No. 9 Ty Watters (149), No. 9 Peyton Hall (165), No. 22 Brody Conley (174) and No. 28 Dennis Robin (184).
