Jimenez Albelda Joins Mountaineers

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University men's soccer coach Marlon LeBlanc has announced that midfielder Pau Jimenez Albelda has joined the Mountaineers as a transfer.
A Barcelona, Spain, native, Jimenez Albelda comes to West Virginia from NJIT, where he played for two seasons. He has enrolled at WVU and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
As a freshman in 2017, Jimenez Albelda earned ASUN Conference All-Freshman Team and All-Tournament Team accolades. In 18 matches with eight starts, he led the ASUN and tied the NJIT record with seven assists and was second on the team with 13 points. He was third on the squad with three goals, 18 shots and 11 shots on goal.
Last season as a sophomore, Jimenez Albelda played in all 17 games with 16 starts. He finished second on the team with three goals, two assists, 24 shots and 12 shots on goal and was third with eight points. His two game-winning goals tied for the team lead.
Jimenez Albelda attended Escola Frederic Mistral – Tecnick Eulalia in Barcelona. He played club for CE Sabadell under coach Julian Marin, who is currently part of the Thailand youth national team staff.
Jimenez Albelda is pursuing a degree in sport management at WVU. His parents are Manuel Jimenez and Teresa Albelda. He has one brother.
