WVU Hosts Youth Soccer Day vs. UD

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men's soccer team continues its homestand against Delaware on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. ET, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.

It is Youth Soccer Day, where kids who wear their youth team jersey will receive free admission. The team will host a free pregame clinic for all children ages 13 and under, beginning at 5 p.m., outside of Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. All fans can get autographs from the team following the match, and the Maniacs will have a giveaway for WVU students.
Tickets are available at WVUGAME.com or by calling 1-800 WVU GAME. Single match tickets are $5 each and $3 for groups of 10 or more when purchased in advance at WVUGAME.com. At the Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium ticket window, tickets will be $7 for adults, $5 for youth and seniors and $3 for groups. The discounted online pricing will be available until kickoff of the match. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to avoid lines at the gate on game day. Tickets for WVU students are free with a valid student I.D.

"Delaware is a really good team, with a great coach," WVU coach Marlon LeBlanc said. "They're dangerous, especially on set pieces. Delaware will be a hungry team, hungry for a result, and we're going to have to be at our best to beat them Saturday night."
The Mountaineers (5-4-0) are coming off a loss to Radford on Tuesday, which snapped a five-match win streak against nonconference foes at home. Despite the loss, WVU is unbeaten in 14 of its last 18 nonconference contests at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
The Blue Hens (2-6-0) come to Morgantown after beginning Colonial Athletic Association play with a 1-1 record. WVU and UD have three common opponents this year, as Delaware beat College of Charleston, 2-1 in overtime, to open CAA play, lost to Pitt, 6-1, and will play UNC Wilmington in late October. West Virginia beat CofC, 2-0, lost to UNCW and hosts Pitt in the Backyard Brawl on Oct. 23.
Senior midfielder Joey Piatczyc ranks No. 22 in the country and second in the Mid-American Conference with 0.57 assists per game, while he and junior defender Pascal Derwaritsch are tied for second with two game-winning goals. Derwaritsch is third in the MAC with 0.44 goals per game, and he leads the team with four goals. He joins Piatczyc with eight points.
In goal, sophomore Steven Tekesky leads the MAC with 35 total saves and an average of 3.89 saves per game. He is second in the league with a .795 save percentage and third with a 1.009 goals-against average and three shutouts.
SCOUTING DELAWARE
Delaware owns a 2-6 record and is 0-3 on the road. The Blue Hens are 1-1 in the CAA after a 2-1, overtime win against the College of Charleston on Saturday and a 4-0 loss at James Madison on Wednesday. UD's first win came vs. Seton Hall, 3-1 on Sept. 1.
Robert Campbell and Timo Hummrich lead the team with two goals, while Campbell is one of five players with one assist on the year, and he leads the squad with five points. He also paces the team with 13 shots and six shots on goal. In goal, Todd Morton has played seven games and has 25 saves and a .595 save percentage. He has allowed 17 goals with a 2.49 goals-against average.
Ian Hennessy is in his 13th season at Delaware and owns a 98-111-29 record. He has led UD to three NCAA Tournaments, in 2011, 2013 and 2016, and two CAA conference titles, in 2011 and 2016.
