Mountaineers Welcome George Mason for Labor Day Matchup

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men's soccer team is back home on Monday, Sept. 7, to take on George Mason. Kickoff from Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
Nick Farrell and Adam Zundell have the call of Monday's contest on ESPN+. The game also can be heard on 91.7 FM (WWVU) in Morgantown, and live stats are available at WVUsports.com.
Single-game tickets are available to purchase in advance by visiting WVUGAME.com or calling 1-800-WVU GAME. It is dollar day as fans can purchase tickets for just $1 in addition to select concessions for the same price.
New for the 2026 season, all student tickets for WVU's Olympic sports will transition to mobile delivery. Students will now be required to log in to their WVUGAME.com account to reserve a student ticket for each home athletics event. For Olympic sports, there is no request process. Students will simply log in to their account using the single sign-on functionality, navigate to the sport of the event they would like to attend and reserve a ticket.
Monday's contest will also be the Mental Health Match. The first 200 fans will receive "Mental Health Matters" buttons and will also have the chance to grab a matching T-shirt while supplies last. Men's Soccer is partnering with Morgan's Message and Hearts of Gold Service Dogs for the Mental Health Match to bring a few special elements to Dlesk throughout the night. Morgan's Message will be featured during the match with special items available. Hearts of Gold will also be on the concourse with a service dog for attendees to meet.
The most recent match for WVU against No. 9 Akron was ruled a no-contest as the game was stopped in the 47th minute due to weather. Before that, the Mountaineers played to a 1-1 draw on the road at UNC Greensboro. Senior Pablo Pozos scored for WVU while sophomore Julen Recalde and junior Jacob Redenfors each collected assists.
The Mountaineers are coming off 13-5-3 season and their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance. In the Sun Belt Preseason Coaches Poll, WVU was picked to win the league, the first time the Mountaineers are preseason favorites since 2022.
Senior Pablo Pozos was named the 2026 Sun Belt Preseason Offensive Player of the Year after tallying 11 goals and three assists in his first season with the Mountaineers. Junior midfielders Isaac Scheer and Nacho Martinez joined Pozos on the Preseason All-Conference Team.
Overall, the Mountaineers return 15 players from last year's squad while adding 15 newcomers. Six players join WVU out of the transfer portal while there are nine first-year college players suiting up for the Gold and Blue.
George Mason is 1-1-1 this season, most recently drawing with No. 15 Marshall, 3-3. In the A-10 Preseason Coaches Poll, the Patriots were picked third.
James Eliuda, Kelly Janssen, and Martim Sereno were all named to the A-10 Men's Soccer Preseason All-Conference Team.
