Homestand Begins Tuesday vs. Radford

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Winners of three in a row, the West Virginia University men's soccer team begins a three-match homestand with a matchup against Radford on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. ET, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.

At the Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium ticket window, tickets will be $7 for adults, $5 for youth and seniors and $3 for groups. The discounted online pricing will be available until kickoff of the match. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to avoid lines at the gate on game day. Tickets for WVU students are free with a valid student I.D.
It is Monongalia County School Night, where the Mountaineers will recognize elementary and middle school students from schools in the county during halftime. Tuesday also is the second Taco Tuesday of the season, with $2 walking tacos.

"We've started to find ourselves a little bit right now," WVU coach Marlon LeBlanc said. "We've won three straight, and now we go home for a nice little homestand. The hopes are that we can keep things going. We're going to take it one game at a time, we'll put all of our efforts into Radford."
The Mountaineers (5-3-0) return home after a 2-0 win at Dayton on Saturday night, their second consecutive 2-0 shutout victory. West Virginia has three shutouts on the season and boasts a 5-0 record when scoring two or more goals. Additionally, WVU has won five consecutive non-conference home matches and is unbeaten in 14 of its last 17 against non-conference foes at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
The Highlanders (0-5-0) come to Morgantown looking for their first win of the season. Radford has scored one goal in 2018 and has been shut out four times.
Senior midfielder Joey Piatczyc ranks No. 21 in the country with four assists, and he and junior defender Pascal Derwaritsch share the Mid-American Conference lead with two game-winning goals. Derwaritsch leads the team with nine points, while Piatczyc is second with eight. Derwaritsch, senior forward Rushawn Larmond and junior midfielder Ethan Shim each have a team-high-tying three assists.
In goal, sophomore Steven Tekesky leads the MAC and is No. 13 in the NCAA with a .861 save percentage, while his goals-against average of 0.631 also leads the league and is No. 25 nationally. Tekesky also leads the conference in total saves (31) and saves per game (3.88).
SCOUTING RADFORD
Radford is 0-5 on the season and 0-4 away from home. The Highlanders are coming off a 2-0 loss to Campbell to open Big South Conference action on Saturday night.
Amadou Diop has scored the team's lone goal this season, in a 3-1 loss at James Madison on Sept. 8, while Max Angelides earned an assist. In goal, Dimitrios Valkanos has started each of the last three matches. He has allowed seven goals for a 2.33 goals-against average and made 12 saves with a .632 save percentage.
Bryheem Hancock is in his second season at Radford after an eight-year tenure as an assistant coach at USF. He helped guide USF to seven NCAA Tournaments and a conference title in 2013. As a player at UConn, Hancock helped the Huskies win the 2000 national title and was named an All-American and Big East Goalkeeper of the Year in 2001.
SERIES HISTORY VS. THE HIGHLANDERS
The Mountaineers are 4-1-2 all-time against Radford, and all but two contests have been on the road. Four contests have gone to overtime. West Virginia won its third consecutive match with a 2-0 victory at Dayton on Sept. 22. The Mountaineers earned their second consecutive shutout and third of the season and handed the Flyers their first home loss of the year. WVU's two goals were the first given up by UD at Baujan Field this season.
Derwaritsch gave West Virginia a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute for his team-high-tying third goal of the year, and sophomore forward Spenser Myers scored his first career goal to make it 2-0 in the 73rd minute.
Junior defender Albert Andres-Llop and sophomore defender Kevin Morris earned assists on West Virginia's first goal, and freshman midfielder Josh DiMatteo was credited with an assist on WVU's second goal. It was Morris' and DiMatteo's first career assists, and Andres-Llops' first of the year.
