Six Named to Academic All-MAC Team

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Six West Virginia University men’s soccer student-athletes were named to the 2015 Academic All-MAC team, the Mid-American Conference announced on Tuesday.
Senior Haydon Bennett, senior Ivo Cabral, junior Mike Desiderio, junior Jack Elliott, senior Zak Leedom and sophomore Louis Thomas were recognized for excelling in both athletics and academics. Elliott was one of three MAC players honored with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Leedom is named to the Academic All-MAC Team for the third time in his career, while Bennett, Cabral, Desiderio and Elliott are recognized for the second time in their careers.
To qualify, student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the season’s matches. Freshmen and transfers in their first year at their school are not eligible for the award.
A total of 49 student-athletes were named to the 2015 Men’s Soccer Academic All-MAC Team.
