
Mountaineers Hosts TCU for Final Series of Season

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 9 West Virginia University baseball team returns home to face TCU in the final series of the regular season, May 14-16. First pitch on Thursday is set for 6:30 p.m., Friday for 6:30 p.m., and Saturday for 1 p.m.
Tickets are available at WVUGame.com, by calling 1-800-WVU-GAME or visiting the Mountaineer Ticket Office at Kendrick Family Ballpark. Student tickets are free with a WVU ID. Fans can watch the game on ESPN+, listen on the Mountaineer Sports Network, and can follow with live stats at WVUsports.com.
Friday is the True Blue game featuring a free bobblehead giveaway for the first 450 fans through the gates. Friday will feature Happy Hour presented by Mountain State Brewing Co. with half-priced drinks from gates open through first pitch. Plus, the first 250 fans will receive a free WVU Baseball drink coaster bottle opener.
Saturday will be Senior Day as we celebrate and send off our seniors taking the field at Kendrick Family Ballpark for their final home series as Mountaineers.
Reserved parking will be in effect for both Friday and Saturday games. Access to the lot adjacent to Kendrick Family Ballpark requires a valid parking pass. A limited number of ADA-accessible spaces are available near Gate A and next to the Clubhouse on a first-come, first-served basis. All other fans should use the general parking lots located across the street from Kendrick Family Ballpark.
The Mountaineers are 35-12 overall this season after sweeping No. 7 Kansas on the road, the first time WVU has ever swept a ranked team on the road. The Mountaineers outscored the Jayhawks, 22-5 in the series while redshirt junior Maxx Yehl and sophomore Gavin Kelly earned Big 12 Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, for their performances.
Kelly leads the Mountaineers with a .391 batting average and 46 RBI while hitting a team-high 12 home runs, half of which have come in the last six games. Senior Paul Schoenfeld is hitting .368 while graduate student Sean Smith is hitting at a .320 clip. Junior Armani Guzman leads the Big 12 with 30 stolen bases.
On the mound, redshirt junior Maxx Yehl and sophomore Chansen Cole have been the best 1-2 punch in the league as they are tops in the Big 12 with a 2.04 and 2.71ERA, respectively. Graduate student Ian Korn is third in the conference with a 2.96 ERA and will be making his second start of the season this weekend.
