
Mountaineers Set for Matchup at Longwood

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 15 West Virginia University men's soccer team is back on the road for a matchup with Longwood on Friday, Sept. 12. Kickoff from Longwood Athletics Complex in Farmville, Virginia is set for 5 p.m.

The Mountaineers are 3-1-1 on the season and are coming off a 6-4 win on the road at No. 22 George Mason. Junior Pablo Pozos had two goals and an assist while senior Marcus Caldeira added a goal and an assist. Freshman Sammie Walker, senior Felix Ewald, and freshman Juan Alvarez each had goals as well for West Virginia.
Overall, Pozos leads the team with five goals while Caldeira has a team-high 12 points (4g, 4a). In goal, graduate student Marc Bonnaire has made 14 saves and collected two shutouts.
Longwood is led by second-year head coach Paul Gilbert and are currently 1-2-1 on the season. The Lancers were picked third in the Big South Preseason Poll, only behind fellow 2025 WVU opponents High Point and Gardner-Webb.
Brano Bedolla leads the team with five points on two goals and one assist. Max Hinke has made 12 saves in goal with a .706 save percentage.
