MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 17 West Virginia University baseball team is on the road, Tuesday, for a midweek non-conference matchup with Penn State. First pitch from Medlar Field at Lubrano Park is set for 6 p.m.

West Virginia is 34-4 this season after sweeping Cincinnati this past weekend and has the highest winning percentage in the country at .895. In the latest polls, the Mountaineers sit at No. 9 in Perfect Game, No. 10 in NCBWA, No. 14 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, No. 14 in Baseball America, No. 18 in The Athletic, and No. 17 by D1Baseball, which is recognized by the NCAA.
 
The Mountaineers currently lead the Big 12 in both ERA (3.72) and scoring (8.8). WVU is also tops in the Big 12 in batting average (.317), hits/9 (6.99), stolen bases (89), stolen bases/game (2.34), and WHIP (1.27).
 
Junior Sam White leads the team with a .383 batting average while senior Jace Rinehart and junior Logan Sauve each have seven home runs. Senior Reese Bassinger is fifth in the Big 12 with a 2.93 ERA and leads the conference with a 0.85 WHIP.

Led by 2nd-year head coach Mike Gambino, Penn State is 24-14 this season after taking two of three from Purdue over the weekend.
 
LSU transfer Paxton Kling leads the Nittany Lions with a .338 batting average and 12 home runs. Anthony Steele has been one of their top relievers with a 2.25 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 24.0 innings of work
