
Mountaineers Head West to Take On BYU

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University baseball team heads to BYU for the first time to take on the Cougars, March 27-29. First pitch on Thursday and Friday are set for 8:30 p.m. ET with Saturday scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET.

West Virginia is 20-3 on the season after a midweek victory over Marshall on Tuesday. The Mountaineers shut out the Herd behind six pitchers who allowed just four hits on the night. Redshirt junior Chase Swain hit his second home run of the season in the game while junior Skylar King drove in two runs.
The Mountaineers are in two polls this week, clocking in at No. 16 by Perfect Game and No. 23 by the NCBWA.
West Virginia is currently seventh in the country with a 3.14 staff ERA, which includes seven pitchers with ERA under three. At the plate, they are hitting .309 as a team, 33rd best in the country and second in the Big 12.

Bryker Hurdsman leads the team with a .388 batting average while Cooper Vest has a team-high nine home runs and 30 RBI. Payton Gubler is the top starter for BYU with three
wins and a 3.12 ERA.
