Mountaineers Return to Hope Coliseum on Tuesday Night
December 08, 2025 11:19 AM | Men's Basketball
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia resumes play at Hope Coliseum with a Tuesday night nonconference matchup against Little Rock of the Ohio Valley Conference.
Most recently, the Trojans dropped a 90-78 home decision to Arkansas State last Saturday. Johnathan Lawson, a 6-foot-7, 190-pound senior guard who previously played at Memphis and Creighton, poured in a career-high 33 points in the loss.
He made 13 of his 19 shot attempts, including 6 of 9 from 3, while adding three rebounds and two steals. For the season, Lawson has made a team-best 22 triples and is averaging 14.4 points per game.
He must be a focal point for a WVU defense that permitted 6-foot-7 guard Juke Harris to score a game-high 28 points in Wake Forest's 75-66 victory over the Mountaineers in Charleston last Saturday.
Little Rock's Kachi Nzeh is also a capable scorer. The 6-foot-8, 225-pound Xavier transfer tallied 30 against Arkansas State by connecting on 11 of his 17 field goal attempts, including a pair of 3s. Nzeh is now third on the team in scoring with an average of 10 points per game, just below Cameron Wallace's 10.8 points-per-game average.
Wallace, a 6-foot-8 forward, played only four minutes coming off the bench in last Saturday's loss.
Braxton Bayless, a 6-foot-2 senior guard, Caleb Pennyfeather, a 6-foot-9 sophomore forward, and Christian Hughes, a 6-foot-2 sophomore guard, round out Little Rock's starting five.
The Trojans are averaging 66.1 points and allowing 78.8 points per contest. Little Rock is also minus-two on the glass and is shooting only 56.2% from the foul line for the season.
Little Rock's two victories this year are against Arkansas Baptist and Ball State.
Last year, coach Darrell Walker led the team to a 19-14 overall record and a third-place finish in the conference standings.
This will be Little Rock's first-ever visit to Morgantown.
Guard Honor Huff scored a team-high 24 points in the Wake Forest loss and continues to lead the team with a 16.6 points-per-game average. Chance Moore is averaging 12 points in the five games he's played so far this year, while Brenen Lorient is averaging 10.5 points per contest for the Mountaineers.
The game will tip off at 7 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN+ (Nick Farrell, Warren Baker and Angelica Trinone). Mountaineer Sports Network from Learfield radio coverage with Tony Caridi, Brad Howe and David Kahn will get things underway at 6 p.m. on stations throughout West Virginia, online via WVUsports.com and the Varsity Network and WVU Gameday apps.
West Virginia (7-3) has won all seven of its contests at the Coliseum so far this season.
The Mountaineer Ticket Office is extending the $5 Black Friday/Cyber Monday special ticket offering for Tuesday's Little Rock game and those can be purchased here.
Otherwise, regular tickets are available for only $15.
