November 03, 2025 02:59 PM | Men's Soccer
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 19 West Virginia University men's soccer team hits the road for the regular-season finale against South Carolina on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Kickoff from Stone Stadium in Columbia is set for 7 p.m.
The game will air on ESPN+ with live stats available on WVUsports.com.

The Mountaineers are 11-3-2 overall this season and sit in second place in the Sun Belt with 18 points and a 6-2 record. WVU is still alive for the Sun Belt regular-season title, three points behind Kentucky, but would need to win and have the Wildcats lose to Old Dominion. The Mountaineers are also two points clear of Marshall for second place, meaning a win or draw against the Gamecocks would secure the right to host the first two rounds of the Sun Belt Tournament.

In its latest contest, West Virginia defeated in-state rival Marshall, 3-0. Senior Marcus Caldeira scored a brace against the 11th-ranked Thundering Herd while senior Dante Huckaby scored his first goal as a Mountaineer. Junior Constantinos Christou and freshman Juan Alvarez each collected assists.

Graduate student Marc Bonnaire made two saves to secure his eighth shutout of the season. Overall, the Mountaineer defense allowed just six shots in the match.

Junior Pablo Pozos leads the Sun Belt and is 12th in the nation with 10 goals this season while Caldeira has nine, second-most in the conference and 19th in the country.

South Carolina is led by fifth-year head coach Tony Annan, who is 33-39-13 during his time in Columbia. The Gamecocks are 7-8-2 and 1-5-2 in the Sun Belt this season after falling to Georgia Southern, 3-1, in their most recent contest.

Ethan Ballek leads the team in goals (7), assists (4), and points (18) while Filip Verstere has made 46 saves.
