West Virginia Selected to Make 24th NCAA Tournament Appearance

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 16-ranked West Virginia University women's soccer team earned an at-large bid into the 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship, the selection committee announced on Monday.
A No. 7 seed, West Virginia was selected as a first-round host and will open tournament play against Wagner on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. ET, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium in Morgantown. Tickets for the match will go on sale on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m.
With the selection, the Mountaineers have qualified for 24 NCAA Tournaments all time, including appearances in 24 of the last 26 seasons. WVU is 24-20-6 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. Additionally, West Virginia's at-large bid marks its second in a row, while it earned a national seed for the first time since 2022.
WVU enters the tournament with a 13-3-3 record, its highest win total since 2018 and 28th season with 10 wins or more. The Mountaineers finished Big 12 play with an unbeaten, 8-0-3 conference record, marking their fifth unbeaten slate since joining the conference in 2012 and first since 2016. It also marked WVU's sixth unbeaten record in conference play all time, which includes one season in the Big East Conference.
West Virginia secured a second-place finish in the Big 12 Conference and the No. 2 seed at the 2025 Big 12 Tournament. It also marked the squad's fourth second-place finish in Big 12 competition and first since 2020-21. The squad's eight wins in Big 12 play marked the second straight season with eight wins and just the third time in program history.
Amid a standout senior campaign, forward Taylor White leads West Virginia's offense with 10 goals, eight assists and 28 points. She ranks No. 5 in the Big 12 and No. 32 nationally in total points, as well as No. 4 in the league in points per game (1.47).
In goal, redshirt junior keeper Bailey Herfurth has nine solo shutouts on the year, while the Mountaineer defense has secured 10 total clean sheets on the year. Herfurth leads the Big 12 in shutouts, while she also ranks No. 5 in the league in goals against average (0.837).
WVU was one of 34 teams to earn at-large bid for this year's championship, while 30 teams earned conference automatic bids. The top 32 teams nationally are seeded.
First-round games will be played on Nov. 14-16, before the second and third rounds will be played on Nov. 20-23, leading into the quarterfinals on Nov. 28-29.
The NCAA Women's College Cup will be played Dec. 5-8, at CPKC Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. The national semifinals will be on Dec. 5, ahead of Dec. 8's national championship game.
