MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's soccer team (13-2-3, 8-0-3 Big 12) completed an unbeaten Big 12 Conference campaign with a 2-1 win over Cincinnati at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium in Morgantown on Thursday night.

With the win, the Mountaineers secured an unbeaten Big 12 record for the fifth time since joining the conference in 2012 and first since 2016. It also marks WVU's sixth unbeaten record in conference play all time, which includes one season in the Big East Conference. The squad's eight wins in Big 12 play marked the second straight season with eight wins and just the third time in program history.

Additionally, West Virginia secures a second-place finish in the Big 12 Conference and the No. 2 seed at the 2025 Big 12 Tournament. It also marks the squad's fourth second-place finish in Big 12 competition and first since 2020-21.

Senior forward Ajanae Respass and junior midfielder Anna Hauer scored for the Mountaineers in the win, while Hauer's tally was marked as the game winner. Sophomore midfielder Maddie Levy was credited with the assist on both goals, her first two-assist performance of her career.

Respass opened the scoring in the first half, finding the back of the net for just the second time this season and first at home. Levy slotted the ball through the UC defenders to find Repass inside the six-yard box, who tapped it in for the go-ahead score at the 24:26 mark of the first half.

Hauer then doubled the Mountaineer lead just two minutes into the second half, scoring an impressive goal from just inside the 18. Levy once again won the ball from the Cincinnati defense and tapped it backwards to Hauer, who delivered an excellent strike to the top of the net to give WVU a 2-0 lead in the 47th minute.

Even though Cincinnati was able to get on the board in the 57th minute and avoid the shutout, it wasn't enough as the Mountaineers earned the 2-1 win and clinched a second-place finish in the Big 12 standings.

West Virginia topped the Bearcats 11-6 in shots and 6-1 in shots on goal, while UC earned five corner kicks compared to just three for WVU. Respass led the offense with the goal, four shots and three on frame. The Mountaineer defense wasn't able to earn the shutout but managed to hold Cincinnati to just one shot on goal.

With the win, WVU remains unbeaten against the Bearcats all time, moving to 4-0-1 in the series.

Up next, the Mountaineers will open the postseason at the 2025 Big 12 Soccer Tournament Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas. The quarterfinals are tabbed for Monday, Nov. 3, and final matchups and game times will be announced soon.
