
West Virginia Faces Iowa State on Saturday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team (6-6, 0-1 Big 12) will make its first Big 12 road trip of the season, facing Iowa State on Sept. 28. First serve is slated for 3 p.m. ET, inside the Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.

Saturday's match marks the 29th meeting between the Cyclones and the Mountaineers. Iowa State leads the all-time series, 24-4. Last season, Iowa State picked up a pair of wins, 3-0, over WVU on Sept. 21-22.
Last time out, West Virginia fell to Cincinnati, 3-0 in the squad's home and league opener on Sept. 25 in Morgantown. Redshirt junior outside hitter Cassidy Tanton led the squad with 15 kills, hitting .323 percent.
Additionally, junior outside hitter Quincey Coyle collected 10 kills against the Bearcats. Sophomore setter Alexis Finnvold dished 32 assists, while graduate student libero Sydney Reed led the defense with 17 digs.
Tanton leads WVU with 172 kills, and 25 service aces while ranking second in the conference in aces and ninth in kills.
West Virginia ranks third in the Big 12 in service aces, collecting 87 throughout the season.
Christy Johnson-Lynch is in her 20th season at the helm of the Cyclones, with a record of 370-201. Iowa State enters the match, 6-5 and will face West Virginia for their first conference match of the season. Iowa State fell, 3-2 to Syracuse in their last match on Sept. 21.
