West Virginia to Host Cincinnati in Home Opener

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team (6-5, 0-0 Big 12) kicks off conference and home play on Sept. 25, hosting Cincinnati. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. ET, inside the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown.
Wednesday's match kicks off with a block party, with face painting, inflatables, and yard games available on the concourse. The first 200 fans will receive free pizza courtesy of Papa John's.
Join the Mountaineers for a Happy Hour every weeknight game for half off all beverages from 6 p.m., until first serve.
Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance by visiting WVUGAME.com or calling 1-800-WVU GAME. When purchasing online, tickets are $6 each and $5 each for groups of 10 or more. Any remaining tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for youth and seniors and $5 for groups at the ticket window on match day.
WVU student tickets also will be made available at the Mountaineer Ticket Office, located at the Coliseum. The office, as well as the stadium gates, opens at 6 p.m., on game day.
WVU students are admitted for free with a valid WVU Student I.D.

Wednesday's match marks the 17th meeting between the Bearcats and the Mountaineers. Cincinnati leads the all-time series, 13-3 which dates to 1981. Last season, the two teams split the series, with both teams taking five-set wins on October 19-20.
Last time out, West Virginia concluded non-conference play with wins over Fairfield, 3-0 and Binghamton, 3-2 on Sept. 20 and 21.
Four Mountaineers earned career-best marks versus Binghamton, with redshirt junior outsider hitter Cassidy Tanton collecting 22 kills, junior outside hitter Quincey Coyle adding 21 kills, sophomore setter Alexis Finnvold dishing 55 assists and sophomore middle blocker Maddy McGath dropping down eight total blocks.
West Virginia ranks third in the Big 12 in service aces, with 83 throughout the season.
Tanton leads WVU with 157 kills and 24 service aces, while ranking second in the Big 12 in aces and 10th in kills and points. Finnvold is No. 7 in the conference with 20 service aces while McGath ranks eighth in hitting percentage on a .379% clip.
Molly Alvey is in her 13th season at the helm of the Bearcats, with a 196-173 record. Cincinnati enters Wednesday's match with a 9-2 record this season, marking the Bearcats first Big 12 match of the year. UC picked up a pair of wins over Morehead State, on Sept. 19 and 21, claiming the squad's sixth straight win.
