MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Recent graduates Julianna Vallerand and
Jaydah Bedoya of the West Virginia University women's soccer team have signed professional contracts with two inaugural USL Super League Teams, the clubs announced this week.
Vallerand signed a contract with Spokane Zephyr FC, while Bedoya signed with Carolina Ascent FC. Together, the duo moves the Mountaineers' all-time professionals number to 40, after former teammates
Maya McCutcheon,
Maddie Moreau and
Kayza Massey reached the professional ranks earlier this year.
A Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada, native, Vallerand spent five seasons on West Virginia's roster, making a lasting impact on the offensive and defensive ends. She appeared in 80 matches during her career, starting 73 and playing in 6,079 career minutes. Vallerand notched 16 goals during her time at WVU, adding six assists for 38 career points. Additionally, she was credited with six game-winning goals.
Also a member of the Mountaineers' dominant back line, Vallerand helped the defense notch nine shutouts in her final season in 2023.
A five-time member of the Academic All-Big Teams, Vallerand earned her bachelor's degree in criminology in December 2022, before earning her Master of Business Administration this past December.
Bedoya spent one season at West Virginia after transferring from UConn in January 2023. During her time with the Mountaineers, the New Bedford, Massachusetts, native played in 18 matches and logged 302 minutes on the field. A key member of the offensive attack, Bedoya took 13 shots and placed eight on goal.
She graduated with her bachelor's degree in communication studies in May 2024.
