MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Graduate students
Sergio Ors Navarro and
Max Broughton of the West Virginia University men's soccer team have been named All-Americans by United Soccer Coaches.
Ors Navarro earns a spot on the first team while Broughton was named to the second team. The pair become the 15
th and 16
th Mountaineers in program history to be named All-Americans.
It is the fifth time that WVU has had multiple All-Americans in the same year along with 2023, 2006, 1968 and 1967.
Ors Navarro becomes the eighth Mountaineer to be named a First Team All-American and the first by United Soccer Coaches since
Nick Noble in 2006. Overall, he is the sixth WVU player named to the first team by the coaches in program history.
The Castellon, Spain native was named the Sun Belt Player and Offensive Player of the Year after scoring 15 goals this season, the most by a Mountaineer since 1995. He led the Sun Belt and was fourth in the nation in goals while finishing fifth in the country with 34 points. He was also recently named a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer.
Ors Navarro was the only player to start all 22 games for the Mountaineers and led WVU to a 13-2-7 overall record, winning the Sun Belt regular season and tournament titles, the first in program history.
A defender from Rawtenstall, England, Broughton played in 22 games with 21 starts, leading all Mountaineer field players with 1,874 minutes played this season. The All-Sun Belt first team selection anchored a back line that produced 10 shutouts and allowed just 3.04 shots on goal per game while also contributing with an assist on the offensive end of the field.
In two seasons with the Mountaineers, Broughton played in 45 games, logging 3,769 minutes played. He scored two goals and dished out four assists while contributing to 19 shutouts, helping WVU to the Sun Belt regular season and tournament titles in 2024 and an NCAA College Cup appearance in 2023.
