MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University wrestling team travels to challenge defending Big 12 champion and No. 4-ranked Missouri on Friday, Dec. 2. Start time for the event is slated for 6:30 p.m. ET, at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Missouri.
Friday's matchup marks the third meeting all-time between WVU (3-0, 1-0 Big 12) and Mizzou (1-1, 0-0 Big 12) and the first since 2006, where the Mountaineers fell, 29-16, to the Tigers in the season opener in Morgantown. Two years earlier, the Tigers secured a seven-point win over the Mountaineers at a neutral site to begin the series in 2004.
West Virginia is coming off a 3-0 sweep, including a 25-15 victory over Northern Colorado to open Big 12 play, at its own Mountaineer Quad on Nov. 20. Missouri heads into its first Big 12 dual of the year after participating in the Lindenwood Open on Nov. 19. Prior to that, the Tigers fell to No. 5 Arizona State by two points (19-17) in their first road dual of the season.
Fans can catch all the action of the Mountaineers' first visit to Columbia on FloWrestling, while live stats can be found on WVUsports.com.
"I want to see where our guys are," fifth-year coach Tim Flynn said. "I think almost every kid on Missouri is ranked, most of them in the top 10, so we get an early season view of where we stand individually."
Every member of Missouri's probable starting lineup is ranked in FloWrestling's weekly rankings: No. 14 Noah Surtin (125), honorable mention Connor Brown (133), No. 10 Allan Hart (141), No. 8 Brock Mauller (149), No. 13 Jarrett Jacques (157), No. 1 Keegan O'Toole (165), No. 9 Peyton Mocco (174), honorable mention Colton Hawks (184), No. 2 Rocky Elam (197), and No. 8 Zach Elam (HWT).
