West Virginia Hosts TCU on Senior Day

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's basketball team hosts TCU on Saturday, March 7, at the WVU Coliseum, in Morgantown, as the Mountaineers get set to conclude the 2019-20 regular season on Senior Day.
Opening tip is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET at the WVU Coliseum. Saturday's game will be broadcast on Nexstar Networks, WTRF-My Ohio, WBOY-NBC, as well as WVUsports.com, with Lanny Fratare and Meg Bulger on the call. Dan Zangrilli and Ayana Dunning will call the game for the Mountaineer Sports Network from Learfield IMG College. The game can be found on 100.9 WSZT-FM, as well as affiliates across the state, the TuneIn Radio App and WVUSports.com.
Tickets are available on WVUGAME.com. The women's basketball team will recognize three seniors prior to Saturday's game for Senior Day – Tynice Martin, Krystaline McCune and Lucky Rudd. Along with tomorrow's pregame ceremony, Saturday's contest is a Gold Rush and all fans will receive a free gold shaker. It also is Family Day at the WVU Coliseum. Families can purchase four tickets and a $15 concession voucher for just $25. Additionally, it is superhero night at the WVU Coliseum, with the first 500 children receiving a free superhero cape, courtesy of WVU Medicine.
The Mountaineers (17-11, 7-10 Big 12) and the Horned Frogs (21-7, 12-5 Big 12) meet for the 19th time in the series and the second time this season on Saturday. The Horned Frogs won the first meeting,
73-60, at Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth. WVU holds the all-time series advantage, 14-4. The Mountaineers won the last meeting against TCU inside the WVU Coliseum, 79-65, on Feb. 16, 2019. West Virginia suffered its only loss to TCU in Morgantown on Jan. 13, 2018, a 76-74 loss in overtime. Prior to that, WVU had won five consecutive meetings against the Horned Frogs in Morgantown.
West Virginia is coming off a 71-69 win at Texas Tech on March 4, at United Supermarkets Arena, in Lubbock, Texas. Three Mountaineers scored in double figures in the win, as redshirt junior guard Kysre Gondrezick led the way with 19 points, followed by Martin with 16 and sophomore forward Kari Niblack with 12. Freshman forward Esmery Martinez led the Mountaineers on the glass at TTU, hauling in a career-high 16 rebounds in the contest.
TCU is coming off a 96-71 victory against Oklahoma on March 4, at Schollmaier Arena, in Fort Worth, Texas. The Horned Frogs' 96 points against the Sooners marked a season high. The win also helped TCU snap a two-game losing streak, after suffering losses at Texas Tech on March 1, 87-83, and against Texas on Feb. 26, 77-67. Lauren Heard leads TCU in nearly every statistical category, including points, rebounds, assists and steals. Heard is one of three players averaging 10 or more points for the Horned Frogs this season.
