272 Mountaineers Named to Fall Big 12 Honor Roll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- The Big 12 Conference released its 2017 Fall Commissioner's Honor Roll with a total of 272 West Virginia University student-athletes making the list. The conference recognizes all student-athletes at its member institutions during each semester with a 3.0 grade point average or higher.
Of the 272 WVU student-athletes recognized by the Big 12 for their academic excellence, 53 registered a GPA of 4.0 in the fall semester.
The 53 Mountaineers named to the list with a perfect 4.0 GPA in the semester include: Connor Hamilton, Dillon Meadows, Nick Snyder, Riley Troutt (baseball); Brendan Ferns, Alejandro Marenco III, Nick Meadows, Ricky Rogers, Adam Stilley, Luke Williams (football); Robyn Bernard, Carly Galpin, Abby Kaufman, Julia Merwin, Jaquie Tun (gymnastics); Elizabeth Gratz, David Koenders, Sarah Osborn, Ginny Thrasher (rifle); Cassia Busch, Lize Morris, Kaitlin Sullivan, Elizabeth Young (rowing); Kevin Morris (men's soccer); Hannah Abraham, Bianca St. Georges, Kayla Thompson (women's soccer); Caleb Keck, Ryan Kelly (men's swimming & diving); Georgia Baldus, Julia Miranda, Olivia Heflin, Ally VanNetta (women's swimming & diving); Giovanna Caputo, Paul Goetz, Abigail Rosiello (tennis); Marianne Abdalah, Amy Cashin, Allie Diehl, Maggie Drazba, Jillian Forsey, Olivia Hill, Andrea Pettit, McKenna Smith, Bria Welker (women's track & cross country); Taylor Cross, Katie DeMeo, Gianna Gotterba, Morgan Montgomery, Lindsay Proctor, Erin Slinde (volleyball); and Sean Mullican, David Smith (wrestling).
The football and women's track/cross country teams led all Mountaineer athletic teams with 53 and 26 honorees, respectively, on the honor roll. Other total student-athletes on the honor roll include men's swimming & diving (24), women's swimming & diving (21), rowing (21), men's soccer (20), baseball (20), women's soccer (20), gymnastics (13), volleyball (13), wrestling (11), women's basketball (8), rifle (8), golf (6), women's tennis (6) and men's basketball (2).
Twenty-four West Virginia student-athletes graduated in December with degrees.
The Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll is recorded and released each semester and recognizes those Big 12 student-athletes who recorded a 3.00 or better GPA the previous semester.
More than 4,500 student-athletes each semester have been named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in the Conference's 20-year tenure.
