WVU to Celebrate Christmas at the Coliseum

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Fresh off a 72-37 win over Morgan State on Tuesday, the West Virginia women's basketball team will host Towson on Thursday in a 7 p.m. tipoff as part of Christmas at the Coliseum.
Santa Claus is coming to town and will be stationed on the WVU Coliseum concourse from 5:45 to 6:45. Fans can participate in holiday crafts on the concourse prior to tipoff. Additionally, attendees will receive vouchers for a free ugly Christmas sweater t-shirt while supplies last. Vouchers can be redeemed for t-shirts at halftime. Due to the festivities, gates will open at 5:30 p.m.
Single-game tickets are $5 each and $3 for groups of 10 or more when purchased in advance at WVUGAME.com. At the WVU Coliseum ticket window, tickets will be $7 for adults, $5 for youth and seniors and $3 for groups. The discounted online pricing will be available until tip-off of the game. Students receive free admission with a valid WVU ID.
Dan Zangrilli and Ayana Dunning will have the radio call on the Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG on The Ticket 95.7 FM and 920 AM, as well as WVUsports.com and WVU Gameday App. A free live stream will be available at WVUSports.com.
West Virginia (7-2) and Towson (5-4) will meet for the fifth time in program history and the first since 2009, with the Mountaineers carrying a 4-0 lead into the meeting.
Led by WVU assistant Diane Richardson, Towson is 5-4 on the season with wins over UMass, La Salle and Saint Joseph's, among others. The Tigers are averaging 69.4 points and 44.0 rebounds per game while shooting 38.4 percent from the field, 28.3 percent from beyond the arc and 60.4 percent at the free-throw line.
Redshirt sophomore guard Kionna Jeter leads the squad with an average of 21.2 points per game. She is joined in double figures by junior guard/forward Nukiya Mayo, who is averaging 11.6 points per game. Mayo is also the team's leading rebounder at 6.4 boards per contest. Redshirt junior guard Q Murray has a team-best 33 assists on the season, while Jeter is the team leader in steals with 31. Freshman center Janeen Camp has 15 blocks on the season.

She became the fourth Mountaineer this season to record a double-double; freshman forward Kari Niblack, redshirt junior guard Tynice Martin and senior forward Naomi Davenport have all had double-doubles this season. Davenport also had a triple-double in the season opener against Coppin State.
Davenport finished with a team-high 16 points, while Martin added 11. She has scored in double figures in all nine games this season.
The Mountaineers held the Bears to just 27 points, marking the fourth time this season they have limited an opponent to less than 40 points (Coppin State, Eastern Kentucky (twice), Morgan State).
