Mountaineers to Face Florida and Notre Dame at Battle 4 Atlantis

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women's basketball is set for a pair of high-profile nonconference matchups at the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas, as the Mountaineers will face Florida and Notre Dame during the Thanksgiving-week event.
WVU will first take on Florida on Nov. 24 at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN+ and then close out the event against Notre Dame on Nov. 26 at 11:30 a.m. ET on ESPN2.
The tournament provides an early-season test for the Mountaineers against two nationally recognized programs on one of college basketball's premier stages. Battle 4 Atlantis has become one of the most celebrated early-season tournaments in college basketball, highlighting elite competition in a championship setting.
The Mountaineers have met Florida five times, the last meeting in 2001, and hold a 1-4 mark against the Gators. Florida is coached by Tammi Reiss, who begins her first season at the helm of the program and returns just one player from last season. The team is expected to be led by All-American Penn State transfer Kiyomi McMiller and Atlantic 10 Sixth Woman of the Year Vanessa Harris, who followed Reiss from Rhode Island.
The Matchups against Notre Dame will renew an old Big East rivalry that saw the programs meet each season from 1996 until 2012. The Mountaineers' departure for the Big 12 and the Fighting Irish's move to the ACC ended their yearly series. WVU is 3-19 in the all-time series. Notre Dame is led by standout guard Hannah Hidalgo, one of the nation's top players. She was named the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year in 2026 and is the first player in ACC history to be named both the Player and Defensive Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons.
