West Virginia to Host Morgan State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Kicking off a three-game homestand, the West Virginia women's basketball team will host Morgan State on Tuesday evening in a 7 p.m. tipoff inside the WVU Coliseum.
Dan Zangrilli and Ayana Dunning will have the radio call on the Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG on Jack-FM 100.9, as well as various affiliates across the state, WVUsports.com and the TuneIn Radio app. A free live stream will be available at WVUSports.com.
Single-game tickets are $5 each and $3 for groups of 10 or more when purchased in advance at WVUGAME.com. At the WVU Coliseum ticket window, tickets will be $7 for adults, $5 for youth and seniors and $3 for groups. The discounted online pricing will be available until tip-off of the game. Students receive free admission with a valid WVU ID.
The Mountaineers (6-2) are coming off a are coming off a 78-29 win over Eastern Kentucky at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center. Freshman forward Kari Niblack put on a show, posting a double-double with career highs of 18 points and 12 rebounds. She became the first WVU freshman since 2010 to record a double-double and lead the team in scoring. Senior forward Naomi Davenport had 16 points and a pair of steals, while redshirt junior guard Tynice Martin scored 14 points with seven rebounds.
Additionally, junior guard Lucky Rudd made her WVU debut after sitting out due to NCAA transfer rules. She finished with eight points and a pair of steals.
The Mountaineers will host three games to cap December before opening league play on Jan. 2 at TCU.
"I'm glad we're playing," coach Mike Carey said. "I know the players are probably glad we're playing and not practicing all week. But they did a good job on their tests and first semester grades, so that's good. We'll get ready to go for second semester."
WVU will face Morgan State (1-10) for just the third time in program history in a series that is tied, 1-1. The Mountaineers defeated the Bears, 84-41, exactly one year to the day of this season's meeting on Dec. 18, 2017, at the WVU Coliseum. Current senior guard Katrina Pardee had five 3-pointers on her way to 21 points, and Davenport had 12 points and six assists in the win as WVU shot 54.5 percent from the field and 61.5 percent on 3-pointers.
Under the direction of third-year head coach Edward Davis Jr., Morgan State has put together a 1-10 overall record in 2018-19, with the team's lone win coming in the season opener against Washington Adventist. The Bears have played a trio of Power 5 schools this year, most recently falling to Michigan, 70-47, in Ann Arbor on Saturday.
MSU is averaging 47.0 points and 31.2 rebounds per game, and is shooting 32.9 percent from the field and 22.2 percent from beyond the arc. The Bears also average 8.1 steals per contest. Senior guard/forward Adre'onia Coleman leads the scoring with 14.3 points per game and also averages a team-best 7.1 rebounds per game. Junior guard Jihayah Chavis has a team-high 20 steals, while freshman guard Ashia McCalla leads the way with 37 assists.
"We'll see a little bit of (what they do) against TCU. This will give us a chance to see what we need to work on and that type of stuff. It's a good game for us."
WVU will play once more prior to the holiday break as the Mountaineers host Towson on Thursday for Christmas at the Coliseum. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
