West Virginia and Oklahoma square off in its ninth all-time meeting on Thursday. The Sooners lead the series, 7-1, with six of those wins coming after the Mountaineers joined the Big 12 in 2012. The two first met in 1986, with West Virginia claiming a 30-15 win at a neutral site. The Sooners, ranked 14th in the nation at the time, won last season's dual in Norman, Oklahoma, by a score of 37-6.
"These matches are important," said fourth-year coach Sammie Henson. "Their team is well coached, but our mindset doesn't change. Consistency wins. That's the bottom line. I've coached at OU. If you stay consistent and follow the plan, you will eventually succeed. There are just little things here and there that we have to fix. We're here to compete, and we have to continue to get better and better each week."
