Mountaineers, Frogs Set to Square Off

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 15 West Virginia women's basketball team returns to the WVU Coliseum on Saturday when the Mountaineers play host to TCU in a 5 p.m. tip.
Saturday will be a Gold Rush, will all fans encouraged to wear gold. The first 500 fans to the Coliseum will receive vouchers for a free "Beat TCU" t-shirt. Vouchers can be redeemed at half time at the Gold Gate.
Tickets are available at a cost of $5 for general admission and $3 for youths, seniors and groups of 10 or more. They can be purchased at WVUGAME.com, by calling 1-800-WVU-GAME or by visiting the Mountaineer Ticket Office at the Gold gate of the WVU Coliseum.
Tracy Warren and Dan Hughes will have the television call on AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh, while Dan Zangrilli and Ayana Dunning have the radio call for the Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG. The game will be aired in its entirety on The Ticket WMMN-FM 95.7/AM 920, the WVU GameDay App ad WVUsports.com. Jack-FM 100.9 and the TuneIn radio app will broadcast the game following completion of coverage of the WVU men's basketball game at Texas Tech.
The Mountaineers previously defeated the Horned Frogs, 87-82, on Dec. 28 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Junior guard Naomi Davenport posted a career-high 32 points in the win, becoming the first player since 2001 to have a 30-point performance in her Big 12 debut. Senior forward Teana Muldrow had a double-double with 20 points and 17 rebounds, while junior guard Katrina Pardee set program records by scoring 15 of her 17 total points in the fourth quarter.
WVU is coming off a 74-54 win at Kansas on Wednesday. At 20 points, it was WVU's largest Big 12 win of the season so far. Davenport again led the scoring with 22 points - her fourth 20-point performance in five Big 12 games. Senior guard Chania Ray notched her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 assists in a complete 40-minute effort. She has played every minute of all five Big 12 games so far, with nine complete games this season. Senior forward Kristina King led the team with 12 rebounds in her second game back from injury.
TCU enters Saturday's game with an 11-5 overall record and 2-3 mark in league play. The Horned Frogs are coming off a 79-77 upset of No. 7 Texas on Wednesday. After dropping their first two league games, including the league opener against WVU, the Frogs have now won back-to-back league contests.
"They went 9-for-11 on threes," coach Mike Carey said. "(They) played pretty good defense and rebounded the ball. Needless to say, they're playing better right now so we'll have our hands full."
The Frogs average 80.2 points and 37.7 rebounds per game and shoot 48.0 percent from the field, 38.3 percent on 3-pointers and 77.2 percent at the free-throw line. Despite coming off the bench, junior forward Amy Okonkwo leads the team with 16.8 points per game, followed by junior center Jordan Moore at 14.6 points per game. Moore also boasts a team-best 7.1 rebounds per contest. Four of five TCU starters average in double-figure scoring.
WVU owns a 13-1 lead in the all-time series and is 11-1 against the Frogs in league play. West Virginia has won five straight over TCU dating back to Jan. 24, 2015.
