Tickets are available at WVUGAME.com, by calling 1-800-WVU-GAME or at the Mountaineer Ticket Office, located at the Gold Gate of the WVU Coliseum. The cost is $5 for general admission or $3 for youth/senior and groups of 10 or more. Students receive free admission with a WVU ID.
Season ticket holders can bring a friend to the game free of charge.
Dan Zangrilli and Ayana Dunning will have the radio call on WMMN-95.7 FM/920 AM in Morgantown/Fairmont for the Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG. Fans can also listen on WVUsports.com and the WVU Gameday app. A free video stream will be provided at WVUsports.com.
The Mountaineers will face the Morgan State Bears for just the second time in program history this week. The two previously met in 1979, with the Bears taking an 80-78 victory at the WVU Coliseum. Morgan State marks the second MEAC foe West Virginia has faced this season after a 101-43 win over Coppin State on Dec. 10. WVU is 18-1 all-time against the MEAC.
Morgan State enters the contest with a 6-4 overall mark and having dropped its most recent game.
The Bears have picked up wins over Cheyney (123-53), Lincoln (Pa.) (60-41), Mount St. Mary's (75-67), CCSU (61-41), NJIT (55-43) and FIU (62-51) this season. Most recently, MSU dropped a 68-73 contest at Marshall on Dec. 6. The Bears average 67.0 points and 37.2 rebounds per game, shooting 40.6 percent from the field and 30.3 from beyond the arc.
Lexus Spears leads the team in scoring at 14.7 points per game, followed by Braennan Farrar at 13.4 points per game. Spears also boasts a team-best 7.1 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game per game and shoots 55.6 percent.
The Bears and the Mountaineers share a common opponent in Central Connecticut State. WVU opened the 2017-18 season against the Blue Devils, taking a 102-52 win on Nov. 10. MSU earned a 61-41 win in Connecticut on Nov. 29.
West Virginia picked up its 10th straight win in Charleston, West Virginia, on Saturday after downing Radford, 75-55. Junior guard Naomi Davenport led the scoring with 20 points, while senior forward Teana Muldrow notched her fifth double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Senior forward Kristina King and junior guard Katrina Pardee notched 11 apiece.
Redshirt junior center Theresa Ekhelar made her career debut for WVU after sitting out fall semester due to NCAA transfer rules. The Woodbridge, New Jersey, native scored four points and four rebounds in the win. Ekhelar became the sixth Mountaineer to debut this season. Davenport, a junior college transfer, is the most familiar newcomer for WVU fans, as she's made 10 starts and is averaging just under 15 points per game thus far. Freshmen Ashley Jones and Destiny Harden also saw their first action this season and have played in all 10 games, while classmate Makayla Stanley has appeared in three. Redshirt freshmen Krystaline McCune and Nia Staples joined the action after missing their true freshmen seasons due to injury.
McCune posted a career-high 12 points against Coppin State last week but will miss the next few weeks following surgery.
A pair of wins this week would ensure the Mountaineers their 11th undefeated season in home nonconference play under coach Mike Carey. West Virginia has won 37 consecutive nonconference games inside the WVU Coliseum dating back to Nov. 24, 2013.
West Virginia will host Morehead State on Thursday to wrap up play before the holiday break. Game time is set for 7 p.m. inside the WVU Coliseum.
