Kendall Smith serves as the Assistant Athletics Director for Governance and Compliance after arriving as the Director of Compliance in July 2023. In her current role, she is responsible for assuring that the athletics department complies with all applicable rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big 12, and West Virginia University. Her primary sport responsibilities are football, women's basketball, gymnastics, tennis, and volleyball, and she assists with men's basketball. She also supervises the internship program for the compliance office.
Smith, a licensed attorney and southern California native, completed her law degree at the University of San Diego where she also worked in the athletics compliance office. She graduated law school with a Pro Bono Service Recognition with High Distinction, awarded to those who volunteer a minimum of 250 hours of pro bono legal service. Specifically, she volunteered with the University of San Diego Veterans Legal Clinic, committed to offering veterans free legal services.
Prior to San Diego, she earned a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in Portuguese, with a minor in Africana studies.
She resides in Morgantown.
