
Mountaineers Conclude Regular Season at No. 9 Arizona State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team (15–14, 3–14 Big 12) will close its regular season on Saturday, Nov. 29, with a road matchup against No. 9 Arizona State (25–3, 16–1 Big 12). First serve is set for 1 p.m. ET inside Desert Financial Arena in Tempe, Arizona.
The match will be streamed on ESPN+, while live stats are available at WVUsports.com.
Saturday's meeting marks the third all-time contest between the Mountaineers and the Sun Devils. Arizona State has claimed the two previous matchups in straight sets, while this will be West Virginia's first trip to Tempe.
Several Mountaineers continue to rank among the Big 12 conference leaders. Redshirt junior setter Alexis Finnvold stands second in the conference in service aces (53) and aces per set (0.48). Senior libero LonDynn Betts ranks fourth in total digs (424) and fifth in digs per set (3.82). Junior middle blocker Maddy McGath is third in hitting percentage (.338), while senior middle blocker Laila Ibrahim sits 12th in total blocks (110.0) and 13th in blocks per set (1.08).
Arizona State enters Saturday's contest following a four-set victory over Cincinnati on Nov. 26. Guided by head coach JJ Van Niel, now in his third season at the helm, the Sun Devils hold a 25–3 overall record with a 16–1 mark in Big 12 play. ASU is ranked No. 9 in the latest AVCA poll and recently secured the 2025 Big 12 Volleyball title outright for the second consecutive season.
Junior outside hitter Noemi Glover and sophomore libero Faith Frame were named to the 2025 Big 12 Volleyball Preseason Team. Frame received the honor of being named to the 2024 Big 12 Rookie Team.
