Ben Kerr has been on the Mountaineer football staff since December 2025 as the director of player personnel.
Kerr assists in the areas of recruiting and scouting. He supervises the director of recruiting, director of on-campus recruiting and the assistant directors for scouting. He organizes and leads personnel meetings, meets with individual personnel units to further the communication from the head coach, manages the transfer portal, communicating details of priority prospects to the head coach and staff.
Kerr oversees weekly in-season creation of advance scouting reports, research and analyze recruiting data to study player acquisition processes and evaluate players on the WVU roster and other Big 12 rosters to analyze and identify strengths and weaknesses. He reviews all recruit prospect files and will oversee the student assistant development program.
Kerr joined the WVU football staff after serving for the past seven years in various administrative roles on the Penn State Football staff, first as the director of football administration from August 2019 – July 2025, then as the director of football operations from July 2025 until becoming the interim chief of staff in November.
At PSU, he managed the day-to-day operations of the football program and administrative staff, oversaw the football budget, handled contracts pertaining to the football program, coordinated all bowl game operations and was the liaison to various campus departments, including athletic and university administrations, human resources, ticket office, head coach’s agent and the Big Ten Conference.
He spent two years on the football staff at Arizona, serving as the assistant director of football and recruiting operations in 2017 and director of football operations in 2018. He also was the assistant director of operations on William & Mary’s football staff in 2016 and an intern at Penn State in 2015 and 2016.
Kerr graduated with his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Penn State in 2012 and earned his master’s degree in sport management from Millersville in 2015.
