No. 10 WVU Travels to No. 13 Colorado for First Big 12 Road Match

BOULDER, Colo. – The No. 10-ranked West Virginia University women's soccer team prepares for its first Big 12 Conference road match when it takes on No. 13 Colorado on Thursday, Sept. 24. Kickoff at Prentup Field in Boulder, Colorado, is set for 9 p.m. ET/7 p.m. MT.
The match will be streamed live on ESPN+, while live stats are available at WVUsports.com. Of note, Thursday's contest is only the second road game for West Virginia this season, as well as its second straight top-15 contest.
Thursday's matchup marks the second all-time meeting between West Virginia and Colorado, as the Mountaineers hold a 1-0 advantage in the series. These two teams met for the first time on Oct. 20, 2024, in Morgantown, with West Virginia coming out on top with a 2-0 win. Then-seniors Aria Bilal and Lisa Schöppl tallied goals in the win in 2024.
West Virginia enters the match with an unbeaten 5-0-2 record. The Mountaineers have outscored their opponents 11-4 so far this season, while the WVU defense has held six of seven opponents to three shots on goal or fewer in each match. Of note, the Mountaineers are 17-0-5 in their last 22 regular-season matches, dating back to Aug. 28, 2025.
Last time out, West Virginia played to a 1-1 draw with No. 12 Baylor to open Big 12 Conference play on Sept. 18. Redshirt senior forward Saige Wimes was the hero of the match after scoring a goal in the 90th minute to salvage a tie after the Bears went ahead in the 78th minute. Senior midfielder Anna Hauer also was a hero, as her expertly placed corner kick in the final minute of the match helped Wimes tally the game-tying goal. In the final box score, WVU tallied seven shots on goal, while Baylor's lone shot on frame was its goal.
Colorado is coached by Danny Sanchez, who led the Buffs to a 17-4-3 record and Sweet 16 berth in 2025. Colorado enters Thursday's contest with a 7-1-1 record and is coming off a 1-0 win over Iowa State on Sept. 17, which extended its win streak to four straight games. Midfielder Reagan Kotschau leads the offense so far this season with six goals, five assists and 17 points.
