BOULDER, Colo. – The No. 10-ranked West Virginia University women's soccer team (5-1-2, 0-1-1 Big 12) suffered a 2-0 loss to No. 13 Colorado at Prentup Field in Boulder on Thursday night.
The Buffaloes took control of the match in the 36th minute and didn't let up. After taking the 1-0 lead into halftime, CU added insurance on a penalty kick goal in the 69th minute to seal the win in the top-15 matchup.
Colorado led 13-9 in shots and 9-4 in shots on goal, while the Mountaineers took a narrow 4-3 edge in corner kicks. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Bailey Herfurth tallied a season-high seven saves in the loss.
Of note, Thursday's loss marked West Virginia's first regular-season loss since Aug. 24, 2025, snapping a 22-game regular season unbeaten streak.
Up next, the Mountaineers continue their road swing at Iowa State on Sunday, Sept. 27. Kickoff at Cyclone Sports Complex in Ames, Iowa is slated for 1 p.m. ET.
