
West Virginia Set to Play at Arizona

PHOENIX – The No. 13 West Virginia University baseball team caps off its trip to the Valley of the Sun with a midweek non-conference game on March 31, against Arizona. First pitch from Hi Corbett Field in Tucson is set for 9 p.m. ET.

The Mountaineers are coming off series win at No. 22 Arizona State over the weekend. WVU dropped the first game before coming back to win on Saturday and Sunday. Graduate student Sean Smith hit .500 in the series which included a go-ahead grand slam in the finale. Sophomore Gavin Kelly hit .538 with a home run and five RBI against the Sun Devils.
It will be West Virginia's first trip to Tucson since winning the NCAA Tucson Regional in 2024, the first of two consecutive regional titles.

Arizona is led by fifth-year head coach Chip Hale and are 9-18 this season. Despite the early-season struggles, the Wildcats are coming off their 19th College World Series appearance in 2025.
Tony Lira leads the team with a .364 batting average and five home runs. Maclain Roberts has been one of Arizona's top relievers with a 4.14 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 14.1 innings.
