MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men's and women's swimming and diving team faces the Penn State Nittany Lions in its final meet of the 2025-26 regular season on Friday at 11 a.m. at The Peak Health Aquatic Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown.
The men's team (3-1) is coming off a win against Villanova on Jan. 24. The women's team (3-3) defeated Duquesne but lost to Villanova in a tri-meet. Against the Dukes and Wildcats, redshirt senior Natasha Whittall moved up the leaderboard in the women's 100-yard backstroke, posting a final time of 54.14. That ranks her sixth all-time in program history for that event.
Redshirt junior Sofia Deste also posted a top-10 time, finishing at 1:02.82 in the 100-yard breaststroke to rank sixth all-time in program history.
Major contributions have come from newcomers this year on both sides. Freshman Jake Salcedo continues to set the tone for the distance swimmers along with Virginia Tech transfer junior Vedaant Madhavan. Madhavan won the 1650-yard freestyle against Villanova.
Freshman Rafael Mimoso has also been a vital addition to the program, winning the 100-yard breaststroke against Villanova.
In the diving well, Stevi Chalemou has performed well for the women's team. Most recently, she won 1-meter against Villanova and Duquesne. She also won on platform against George Washington and at the WVU Invitational.
