
Mountaineers Head to UCF for Conference Matchup

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 10 West Virginia University men's soccer team travels to the Sunshine State to take on UCF, Sunday, Sept. 28, in a Sun Belt Conference matchup. Kickoff from the UCF Soccer and Track Complex is set for 7 p.m.

The Mountaineers are 5-1-2 on the season and are coming off a 2-2 draw against No. 9 High Point. Junior Pablo Pozos scored his Sun Belt-leading eighth goal while senior Felix Ewald tallied his second goal of the season. Senior Ethan Dekel Daks and freshman Juan Alvarez each picked up assists in the contest.
Pozos leads WVU with 17 points on his eight goals and one assist while senior Marcus Caldeira has 16 points on five goals and a team-best six assists. Dekel Daks and sophomore Isaac Scheer each have four assists on the season.
In goal, graduate student Marc Bonnaire has made 19 saves and produced three shutouts while playing every minute for the Mountaineers.
UCF is led by ninth-year head coach Scott Calabrese, who is 79-45-14 during his time in Orlando. The Knights are 2-4-1 this season and 0-1-0 in the Sun Belt, falling to Kentucky in their conference opener.
UCF was slotted third in the Sun Belt preseason coaches poll. Clarence Awoudor leads the squad with nine points on two goals and five assists.
