
Berlitz Places Eighth in 200 Free at Big 12 Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University swimming and diving team finished the third night of competition on Thursday at the 2025 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships at Weyerhaeuser Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington.

Redshirt senior Danny Berlitz qualified for the A final in the men's 200-yard freestyle after touching the wall at 1:35.22. Berlitz placed eighth in the finals with a final time of 1:37.48.
On the women's side, sophomore Victoria Kidney posted the sixth-fastest time in program history in the prelims of the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.02. Kidney recorded the same time in the B final, placing fifth.
In the diving well, sophomore Owen Recker placed fourth in the men's 1-meter B final with a final score of 293.75. For the women's team, junior Abigail Sullivan led the way with an 18th-place finish on the 3-meter with 242.80 points.
To finish the night, the men's relay team comprised of Berlitz and seniors Conner McBeth, Justin Heimes and Jake Young placed fifth in the 400-yard medley relay with a final time of 3:09.06. That marked the third-fastest time in program history
West Virginia will compete on Friday at 1 p.m. EST for prelims and 9 p.m. for finals. Both sessions will be on ESPN+.
