2026-27 Swim and Dive Schedule Released

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has released the 2026-27 swimming and diving schedule.
"I think there is a lot of excitement amongst our staff and certainly our team about our incoming group and the talent we have," coach Brent MacDonald said. "We've set up a really great schedule this year to challenge this group and get them ready for what the end of the season with the Big 12 and NCAA Championships will look like.
"That was a conscious effort we made in our schedule to really challenge ourselves with some high-end opponents. If we're going to compete at a national level, then we need to make sure we're going to see those opponents week after week."
It's a different schedule for West Virginia than in years past with the West Virginia State Games and WVU Invitational not taking place.
West Virginia's regular season schedule includes four teams that finished in the top 20 at the NCAA men's swimming and diving championships and three teams that placed inside the top 16 at the women's championships, including a trip to Virginia to face the Cavaliers who have won six consecutive national championships on the women's side.
That total does not include the Big 12 teams WVU will face at the conference meet as two women's teams and two men's teams out of the Big 12 Conference finished in the top 30 at the NCAA Championships.
West Virginia opens the season with the women's team at home against Marshall on Oct. 2, and the men's team on the road against Virginia Tech and Penn State in Christiansburg, Virginia, on Oct. 2-3.
The meet at Virginia Tech will include the Hokies, Penn State and Liberty (women's only), but for West Virginia, only the men's swimming and diving team will compete.
The Mountaineers return to action on Oct. 23-24, at home against Cincinnati and Delaware. This marks the second consecutive season facing the Blue Hens from Delaware and the first dual meet battle with the Bearcats since the 2023-24 season.
West Virginia opens November with a diving only meet against Clarion on Nov. 6, in Clarion, Pennsylvania. West Virginia will then face Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Nov. 7. Diving will not compete against UVA as the Cavaliers restructured their program not to include diving following the 2024-25 season.
The first half of the season ends at the Ohio State Invitational in Columbus, Ohio, on Nov. 17-20. A full list of teams competing in that invitational will be released at a later date.
Once again, select Mountaineers will compete at the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) Open Water Championships in Sarasota, Florida. This year's meet is slated for Dec. 12.
West Virginia will compete four times during the month of January before preparing for the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships, opening 2027 on the road against Pitt at Trees Pool in Pittsburgh on Jan. 9.
The Mountaineers return to Houston for the second year in a row to compete in the Big 12 East Showdown on Jan. 16-17.
The final home meet of the year will be senior day against Villanova and Duquesne (women's only) on Jan. 23.
West Virginia wraps up the regular season against Penn State in University Park, Pa., on Jan. 30.
The 2027 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships will be at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Feb. 23-27.
West Virginia will host the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships at The Peak Health Aquatic Center at Mylan Park on March 8-10.
